Vitamin B-12     Vitamin C     Vitamin D3     Vitamin E     Enzymes     Co-Enzyme Q10     Minerals

Vitamin deficiency is a main contributor to illness and disease.  A person may be deficient in certain nutrients from a long period of insufficient supply, or due to special needs.

Our preferred form of everyday nourishment is whole food nutrition from super foods.

Some nutrients are not readily available from normal food sources. At times an increase in specific nutrients may be needed due to stress, illness or other factors.

For example, people with abnormal stress, nervous disorders, heart and circulatory problems or fibromyalgia may benefit from extra B vitamins.

The usual all-synthetic vitamins added to food products and sold as supplements in drug stores and supermarkets are NOT compatible with the body's energy. Only a portion of a synthesized nutrient may be able to be used by a cell.

In fact, too much of certain synthetics, such as synthetic vitamin E, actually toxifies and disturbs the body.

For these reasons, seek high-quality nutritional supplements made with primarily natural ingredients.

Most vitamin products are offered as tablets. Sometimes these are very poorly broken down if they are not properly prepared. Septic tank cleaning companies report that astounding numbers of undigested cheap vitamin pills appear in the human waste they collect.  These "potty pellets" are evidence of many wasted dollars.

Vitamins and minerals in liquid form offer maximum utilization by the body. The minerals need to be in absorbable ionic form, ideally from food and herbal sources with a good array of synergistic trace minerals.

Vitamin B12

The B vitamins offer many health benefits. They help promote energy, maintain the nervous system, improve immune functions and buffer the effects of stress.  Notably, the B vitamins influence the health of most of the internal organs of the body.

Vitamins can be obtained from the diet, but some of the vitamins, especially B and C vitamins, are easily lost or destroyed during cooking and processing.

Since dietary sources of vitamin B12 are mostly foods of animal origin, supplementation is important for vegetarians.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient with many health benefits. Stress and illness burn off a lot of it, so it is wise to suppelement with an increased amount at those times, and during the winter cold and flu season.

The vitamin C in foods, such as citrus and peppers, is usually not what it used to be. Even at their best, foods do not present enough Vitamin C for our bodies to adequately handle the levels of stress and pollution today.

Supplemental vitamin C is best from food sources with natural synergistic bioflavonoids, such as acerola cherry berries, wild Spanish orange and rosehips.

Most vitamin C products use synthesized ascorbic acid, often from corn syrup, which is less helpful. Still it should be combined with natural bioflavonoids (eg., rutin, hesperidin, etc.) for better utilization.

Vitamin D3

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient important for bone strength. It is also needed for immune health.

The body can make vitamin D from exposure of the skin to sunlight. However, most people do not get enough sun, especially during cloudy or winter months.

Therefore, vitamin D deficiency is very common.

In the body, vitamin D is responsible for maintaining normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus and for helping to build strong bones. Vitamin D works with other vitamins, minerals and hormones to promote bone mineralization.

Additionally, research shows that vitamin D is needed to support a healthy immune system.

The recommended U. S. "Daily Value" for vitamin D has been 400 I.U. for many years, but research has shown that this amount is grossly too little.

Vitamin D comes in two forms, D2 and D3. Of the two, D3 is more bioactive.

The vitamin D in most multiple vitamin supplements is not in the best form, and there is not enough of it.

A common recommendation for vitamin D supplementation during the cold and flu season is 1000 IU per 25 pounds of body weight per day.

Many vitamin D supplements today are made from the lanolin in the wool of sheep.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E offers cardio-protective and antioxidant benefits.  This antioxidant may destroy free radicals before they can damage cells.

Tocopherols and tocotrienols are two families of active compounds that we know as vitamin E. Many vitamin E products on the market contain only one or two of these important compounds.

The delta tocotrienol has been the subject of much research for maintaining cholesterol levels within the normal range and for supporting arterial health. Tocotrienols have also been studied for their support of the immune system.

A full spectrum vitamin E supplement is needed, ideally with selenium for its glandular and cellular benefits.

Enzymes

A good multiple enzyme product presents benefits for both digestion and metabolism.

Plant enzymes have been extracted, concentrated and blended to aid in the pre-digestion of all the foods. This allows your body to use metabolic enzymes to do their vital work, rather than use them up for food digestion.

There are protease enzymes to digest proteins, lipase enzymes for digesting fats and oils, amylase enzymes that reduce starches, several types of enzymes for sugars and dairy products, and cellulase for digesting fibers.

Restore your body's natural enzyme levels promotes better digestion and metabolism, more energy, detoxification and overall health.

A recommended formula offers the following enzymes: amylase, protease, hemi-cellulase, Galactomannanase, papain, alpha-galactosidase, acid stable protease, gluco-amylase, pectinase, bromelain, lactase, lipase, xylanase, maltase, cellulase and invertase.

Coenzyme Q10

Co-Q10 is an all-natural, enzymatic, vitamin-like substance present in every cell in the body. It is a vital catalyst for cellular energy, cardiovascular health and longevity.

As a dietary supplement it provides assistance to the body's cells by helping to maintain and protect against oxidative stress for increased cell integrity and energy.

Co-Q10 is required for energy production in the mitochondria of the cell where carbohydrates and fatty acids are converted into energy (ATP). This energy-making process fuels most metabolic processes.

Co-Q10 is a highly potent antioxidant and is an essential nutrient in the body that supports healthy cardiovascular function. It scavenges free radicals, reducing oxidative stress on cells throughout the body. It protects cardiac cells, prevents lipid oxidation and promotes the regeneration of vitamin E, another antioxidant.

Co-Q10 especially contributes to the health of the heart, kidneys, liver and pancreas. It also supports already-normal-range blood pressure levels.

Co-Q10 material is often marketed in a crystalline state, which is less-absorbable by the body.
