WHAT IS FLOWER POLLEN?

Pollen is created when plants produce flowers. It is the male germ seed (sperm) of plants. Pollination occurs when the pollen is carried by bees, wind, or other means from the flower's stamen to the stigma of another flower's pistil. Fertilization occurs when the pollen reaches the ovary. This is when a seed is created. Without this process there wouldn't be any plant life on earth--flowers, fruits, vegetables, trees, etc.

Pollen is microscopic. So small , it would take almost 10,000 pollen grains to cover the size of your thumbnail. Each grain has an almost impenetrable outer shell. On the inside of the shell is where the nutrients are found.

Think of a seed (such as sunflower seed) that has an outer shell with the “meat” or other nutrients inside.

Each pollen grain has tiny germinal opening called hilas. These openings are used by the seed to bring forth sprouts.

Bees collect flower pollen, then bring it back to the hive. Bees use special enzymes to get through the hard outer shells and remove the nutrient rich insides. Bees use this nutritive substance to make honey, royal jelly, propolis, and other materials used in the hive.

More About The Difference Of Flower Pollen

Flower Pollen extract is just the inside nutrients, not the outer shell. On the other hand, bee pollen is the whole pollen grain, outer shell included.

When you eat bee pollen it is like swallowing whole walnuts or pecans including the intact shells. Even though you have digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas—they could not fully break down the outer shells to get to the nutrient rich nut inside. You would then excrete the walnuts or pecans fully intact. Little or no nutrients would have been absorbed into your system.

Jon Miller's Personal Experience With Flower Pollen

In the early 1980's I met a couple from southern Ohio at a natural health convention where I was speaking, who had developed a special bee pollen trap that was situated at the top of the bee hive and kept the collected pollen cleaner.

I arranged to market their higher quality bee pollen under my own label as "Jonathon Miller's Pure Gold Bee Pollen". I sold it to local health food stores here in Ohio. After a couple of years, my source went out of business, but I did not pursue bee pollen any longer.

In 1984, Cernitin America, an Ohio company, introduced the Swedish Flower Pollen extract. I became a successful distributor of their products.

They had endorsement agreements with several well-known athletes, including some NBA stars, the Olympic women's gymnasts, and their gymnastics coach, Bela Karolyi. My friend, Stacy Smallenberger, former NCAA gymnast and champion of men's rings, was a key connection there.

Cernitin America had a heyday for a few years, then subsided with management problems.

In the 1990's I was part owner of a company that marketed an improved Swedish Flower Pollen in formulation with other healthful herbs. One of my partners was Dr. B. P. Pooviah, biochemist and the former research director of Cernitin America.
